First Fruits Farm
I enjoyed volunteering at the First Fruits Farm. It was the first time in awhile that I had really gotten out and done hard, messy work outside. I had forgotten how full filling it was actually getting outside and doing something with your hands for the needy was. You can see the fruits of your labor almost first hand and you know you only going to give as much as you are able to do. Picking fruits and vegetables for the hungry provides a kind of gratification that simply donating money cannot do.
Impact on Me
By helping at the First Fruits Farm, the farm reestablished my love of doing hard work outside for a greater cause. I decided that this coming summer, once I have more free time, I want to try and get involved in building homes for the needy through Habitat for Humanity in nearby counties.

Impact on Others
The tomatoes that we harvested were shipped to shelters and food kitchens to help feed people in need of meals. By helping to clear the field after we finished harvesting, we were also able to help the First Fruits Farm deviate up work. This allows them to focus on tasks that us, as volunteers, may not be able to do.
